Two of the most significant ecological and historical sites in the Middle East are located in northern Jordan, thanks to the wonders of nature and the mastery of medieval Arab military architecture: the towering Ayyubid castle at Ajloun, which assisted in the defeat of the Crusaders eight centuries ago, and the expansive pine forests of the Ajloun-Dibbine region.
